Innovation Competition 2026
Application

The purpose of the Competition is:

  • to contribute to the promotion and visibility of applied research that has an impact on society and addresses critical scientific issues,
  • to encourage the Institution’s researchers to explore the practical applications of their research results in order to develop solutions that respond to contemporary societal challenges, and
  • to cultivate a culture of extroversion, collaboration, and social responsibility within the academic community.

The competition is addressed to individual researchers and/or research teams that include at least one faculty member (DEP) of NKUA, who conduct research aimed at developing innovative solutions based on a scientific approach and applied research, addressing contemporary problems in society and science.

The competition will focus on the following fields of study:

  • Health Sciences
  • Natural Sciences
  • Humanities
  • Social Sciences
  • Economic Sciences
  • Education Sciences

Innovation Competition 2026 Awards

The winners’ prizes consist of monetary awards of €6,500 each, as follows:

3 awards in Health Sciences

3 awards in Natural Sciences

4 awards in the Humanities

4 awards in the Social Sciences

1 award in Economic Sciences

1 award in Education Sciences

The competition is implemented within the framework of the Project ‘Excellence Strategy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens’ under Call SUB2: ‘Universities of Excellence’ with MIS code 5180665, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility ‘Greece 2.0’ (Action Code: 16289)
